[ADV] Mavic Crossmax Elite MTB 29

The idea behind the Crossmax Elite is simple: what part of the wheel can really make a difference without breaking the bank? After decades of in-depth wheel analysis and testing on the most demanding XC trails, it’s clear that it’s the rim. Making it as light as possible reduces inertia, resulting in a very dynamic ride.

We started with our lightest aluminum rim, the Crossmax Pro Series. We then ISM4D-treated it (Inter Spoke Milling), leaving only what’s absolutely necessary to ensure the rim’s stiffness.

The new hookless rim with a 22mm internal width is fully UST Tubeless, offering better traction and a reduced risk of flats, making it easier to mount and remove new tires without losing your day.

We then laced these featherweight rims to our proven QRM hubs, known for staying smooth over long distances. We also used our ITS4 freewheel system, as it offers a very fast engagement that reinforces the dynamics of the wheel.

Ultimately, the Crossmax Elite is the best in its class: 1,635g in the 27.5″ version and 1,715g in the 29″ version.

Available with our very light, low rolling resistance Pulse Pro UST Ready tires in 2.1″ or 2.25″. Plus, they adapt perfectly to your setup: – Standard (15×100 and 12×142, both convertible to a quick release version) or Boost (15×110 and 12×148). – 27.5″ and 29″ – 2 color versions: black or black/red – Cannondale specs: Supermax (Lefty 60) and Offset (AI) in black only – Standard Shimano/Sram or XD (Eagle compatible).

L’idea che sta dietro alla Crossmax Elite è semplice: qual è il componente della ruota che può fare davvero la differenza senza dover spendere un capitale? Dopo decenni di analisi approfondite delle ruote e di test sui sentieri da cross-country più impegnativi, è emerso chiaramente che si tratta del cerchio. Rendendolo il più leggero possibile si riduce l’inerzia offrendo una pedalata estremamente dinamica.

Siamo partiti dal nostro cerchio in alluminio più leggero, quello della serie Crossmax Pro. Questo è poi stato sottoposto al trattamento ISM4D (Inter Spoke Milling) lasciando solo quanto strettamente necessario per garantire la rigidità del cerchio.

Il nuovo cerchio senza ganci con larghezza interna di 22 mm è completamente UST Tubeless e offre una migliore trazione e un minor rischio di forature, consentendo di montare e smontare più facilmente i nuovi pneumatici, senza perderci l’intera giornata.

In seguito, abbiamo allacciato questi cerchi leggerissimi ai nostri collaudati mozzi QRM, noti per rimanere lisci sulle lunghe distanze. Abbiamo anche utilizzato il nostro sistema a ruota libera ITS4, poiché offre un innesto rapidissimo che rafforza la dinamicità della ruota.

In definitiva, la Crossmax Elite è la migliore della categoria: 1.635 g nella versione da 27,5″ e 1.715 g nella versione da 29”.
