British Cycling has announced a partnership with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) to fight doping in sport. The initiative was developed by their respective Chairs, British Cycling’s Frank Slevin and UKAD’s Trevor Pearce, who took office earlier this year.

The governing body and UKAD say issues to be addressed in the coming year include:

Establish a medical governance committee to provide oversight and challenge for the Great Britain Cycling Team’s medical support

Work with UKAD to establish roles and responsibilities for an ethical framework

Require event participants to access anti-doping education prior to entry

Launch a campaign to encourage reporting of doping offences

Increase investment in testing, including competition at flagship events

Holding regular data sharing/analysis ‘summits’ with UKAD

Establish further opportunities for shared influence with UCI/WADA/UK Government

Adopt and develop disruption techniques

Appoint a Head of Anti-Doping to the Rider Committee, working with boards and executives to ensure riders’ interests are represented.
