Bike cargo

Italian engineering firm Formula and manufacturer Ello Mobilité have partnered to build a fleet of cargo bikes for French supermarket giant Carrefour.

These bikes are designed to transport up to 100kg of groceries per delivery and cover around 80 kilometers a day as part of Carrefour’s online delivery service.

The bikes are equipped with Formula’s Cargo fork and Utile brakes, which were chosen for their ability to increase safety and comfort for the rider while also being low maintenance, thereby reducing running costs over the lifespan of the bike.

The Cargo fork and Utile brake are backed by Formula’s 10 Year Support Promise, ensuring parts, spares, and support are available for ten years.

The Utile Brake provides powerful and progressive braking, avoiding the abrupt on/off action often found in mountain bike brake systems adapted for cargo bikes.

It uses a moto-style lever and a master cylinder with a larger piston and reservoir, resulting in improved modulation and a recommended service interval of 20,000 kilometers or two years.

The Cargo fork was designed to handle the demands of intensive commercial use and to reduce maintenance costs, making it last longer.
