Legal Transport Bike in Italy

Transport bikes without a motor, also known as cargo bikes, are legal in Italy and are regulated by the Highway Code.

These bicycles can be used to transport goods and must have a loading surface that is approximately flat and horizontal, open or closed.

The dimensions of the loading surface cannot be less than approximately one third of those of the vehicle itself.

However, it is important that the dimensions of these bicycles comply with the maximum limits set for bicycles, i.e. a maximum width of 1.30 meters, a length of 3 meters and a height of 2.20 meters.

In addition, it is forbidden to use the bicycle for commercial activities and it is not possible to transfer it for use to other individuals.
